History of Borden's

The original Borden's open in 1940.

1940

One of the many retail ice cream parlors across the country was built on Johnston St in Lafayette, Louisiana.

1961

Ella Meaux was hired and worked at Borden's for over 55 years! She was an icon at this location and remembers generations of customers.

1981

The University of Southwestern Louisiana, known as University of Louisiana at Lafayette, inherits the ice cream parlor. 

2000

Borden's was given a statement of significance. 

2009

The Lerille family buys the ice cream shop from the ULL foundation.
